George Santos was sworn in to the House of Representatives over the weekend after Republicans selected Kevin McCarthy as House speaker.
Santos has been under fire after the New York Times published a investigation last month indicating that much of his resume appeared to have been fabricated.
Santos said in a statement, “Now is the time to put political differences aside, stop the finger pointing, and start delivering results. The work of Congress is not about my personal life, this is about delivering results for my constituents.
The Chairman of the Nassau Republican Committee issued a statement said in part, “Mr. Santos deceived the Republican Party, and he is not welcome at our functions or meetings.”
