The LIRR is running 10 extra trains on Friday, March 17 to make travel to and from the St. Patrick’s Day Parade easier.
To help customers who are traveling to and from the St. Patrick’s Day on Friday, March 17, LIRR will run 10 extra trains to and from Penn Station and Grand Central Madison.
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. and travels along Fifth Avenue from 44th Street to 79th Street, ending at approximately 4:30 p.m. The parade can be viewed from anywhere along the route, with the best spots available to those who arrive early.
The 10 additional trains will run on multiple branches. Otherwise, LIRR will run regular weekday service. Here are the details:
Added westbound morning service
Babylon Branch:
- An added train will depart Babylon at 9:27 a.m., running express to Wantagh, then making all stops to Rockville Centre, followed by Jamaica and Penn Station.
- An added train will depart Freeport at 9:30 a.m., making all stops to Lynbrook, followed by Jamaica and Penn Station.
Ronkonkoma Branch:
- An added train will depart Farmingdale at 8:59 a.m., making all stops to New Hyde Park, followed by Jamaica and Penn Station.
- An added train will depart Ronkonkoma at 9:10 a.m., making all stops to Hicksville, followed by Mineola, Jamaica, and Penn Station.
Added eastbound afternoon service
Babylon Branch:
- An added train will depart Grand Central at 2:04 p.m., stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, and then all stops to Babylon.
- An added train will depart Penn Station at 2:38 p.m., stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, and then all stops to Babylon.
- An added train will depart Grand Central at 2:54 p.m., stopping at Jamaica, Lynbrook, Rockville Centre, and then all stops to Babylon.
- An added train will depart Penn Station at 3:45 p.m., stopping at Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then all stops to Wantagh, and ending at Massapequa.
Port Washington Branch:
- An added train will depart Grand Central at 3:07 p.m., stopping at Woodside, Flushing-Main St, and then all stops to Great Neck.
- An added train will depart Penn Station at 3:26 p.m., stopping at Woodside, Flushing-Main St, and then all stops to Great Neck.
