A lawsuit has been filed against Kumo Japanese Steakhouse in Stony Brook after 28 people became sick at the sushi restaurant over the weekend.
Lawyers say Kumo served cooked rice that had been stored at room temperature for too long, resulting in people getting sick.
The Health Department says trays of rice at the restaurant were not stored at the proper temperature, leading to bacteria in the rice.
Kumo was cited for 15 violations but has since reopened.
