Two more detectives have been added to the Suffolk Police Department’s Gilgo Beach Task Force as investigators look to see if the deaths of more victims are connected to suspect Rex Heuermann.
Suffolk Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said he is adding the pair of investigators to look into the backgrounds of two women whose remains were found in 2011.
Rex Heuermann, the architect accused of murdering at least three women near Long Island’s Gilgo Beach, appears before Judge Timothy P. Mazzei in Suffolk County Court in Riverhead, N.Y., on Aug. 1, 2023. (James Carbone/Newsday via AP, Pool)
