Suffolk County police arrested a homeless man after he stole an Uber driver’s vehicle and drove off while intoxicated.
The driver left the motor running in his car in a parking lot on Vets Highway in Commack while he was picking up a food order. The suspect jumped into the car and drove away.
The vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant a short distance away and the suspect fled on foot into a heavily wooded area.
A Canine Unit officer and his dog located him and placed him under arrest.
