Nassau and Suffolk county law enforcement officials announced a new task force to combat crimes being committed across Long Island.
Both counties are seeing patterns where people coming to Long Island to commit burglaries, leave and return to do it again.
Officials say criminals are coming from New Jersey to steal cars and break into homes.
Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder says 90% of cars that are stolen are recovered in Newark.
The multi-jurisdiction task force will use resources to identify and stop burglary patterns and share real-time information.
